Here are some fun but useful tips, proof that wedding consultants do think of things that otherwise might get overlooked!

Candles (Tip for July '09)

- There is no such thing as too many candles.

They make everyone look younger and more glamorous.

Battery operated ones work well in frosted votive cups if needed.

Emergency Kit (Tip for June '09)

-  Curious about what is in those emergency kits you hear about?

Here are some of the things that I include in the one I carry to every event.

 * Sewing items: sewing kit, toupee tape, small scissors,

instant hemming tape, clear nail polish (for runs), white chalk (for stains).

                            * Health aids: breath mints/gum, bandages, blister protection,

antacid, pain reliever, deodorant, sun screen, bug spray.

                            * Beauty: blotting papers, cotton swabs, tweezers, emery board, lip balm, tissues, hand lotion, bobby pins, comb/brush, hairspray, powder, small mirror, nail polish in the shade you are wearing.

Tips (Tip for May 09')

- From The Knot magazine, here is their tip guide if you are satisfied with your vendors:

* Officiant/ceremony site = $50-$500

* Musicians = $20-$30 each member

* Banquet manager/Maitre d' = $200-$300

* Wait staff/bartenders = $25-$50 each

* Hairstylist = 15-20% of total bill

* Makeup artist = 15-20% of total bill

* Restroom & coatroom attendants = $1 per guest

                  * Valets = $1 per car

                  * Limo chauffeurs = 15-20% of total bill or $20 per driver if

                     gratuity is not included

                  * Delivery/setup staff = $5-$10 each

Bridal Shows (Tip for April 09')

- These can be very beneficial and full of information, but they can also be time consuming, especially when you have to fill out the same information at almost EVERY booth. Save yourself a lot of time and print out mailing labels before hand so you can just peal and stick at the booths that need some info. Here is what should be included for the labels:

  * Name (first and last and don't forget the groom)

  * Address

  * Email address

  * Phone number

  * Wedding date

Drinks & Cocktails (Tip for March 09')

- Did you know that there is a certain order to serving beverages at your wedding?  Before the ceremony begins, you should serve something that is non-alcoholic like hot chocolate for winter weddings, or a spritzer in the summer.  Then after the ceremony feature a great mixed drink such as a jasmine martini or something tropical in addition to your champagne and bar service.

Food Service (Tip for February 09')

- Surveys show that the first course is what makes the lasting impression when it comes to what is served; so consider texture, temperature, color and dimension when deciding on the first course.

Lighting (Tip for January 09')

- What you don't light falls into the abyss. Lighting is so important to the ambiance of the evening, it should never be static.
